Autumn

by Kelly

As I sit there on the window sill

looking into the cool crisp air,

the first handsome leaf

falls from a tree above,

with that as a sign,

I sigh to myself that

autumn is near.

Several others start to fall

too many to count,

the wind blows loudly

with the sun shining bright,

and rustles the already fallen leaves

into leaf talk.

The color in the sky

turns a magical pink,

making the leaves look glamorous.

Do you ever wonder why leaves fall,

How do they know when it's time?

It's spookishly dark now,

the leaves have become almost invisible.

Tomorrow will be a new day

and the old ones will be gone.

New leaves will fall from those

rustling trees,

soon they will be bare,

and the bitter cold will

be among us.
