West High School Turns the Big 50!

West High School’s 50th Anniversary will be celebrated beginning with Graduation this June and continuing through Homecoming 2010. A committee has been formed that is working hard to plan for student and alumni activities. The 50th graduating class of WHS will receive their diplomas on June 6, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. in the i wireless Center in Moline, IL. They will receive special recognition, as well, with a greeting from the class of 1961.

A birthday party with cake and ice cream will be held for students on September 7 to commemorate the opening of the school on the day after Labor Day in 1960.  

An alumni committee is making plans for a great homecoming of 50 years of WHS students. Homecoming 2010 will be held on the weekend of September 10-12. The homecoming game will be on Friday night against Pleasant Valley.. Alumni festivities in connection with this game will include an alumni band reunion and a parade that will include vintage cars complete with the returning courts of homecomings past. The committee is finalizing a location for an alumni celebration on Saturday evening and a brunch and school tours to be held at The Falcon’s Perch Cafeteria on Sunday September 12.
