This week is No Name-Calling Week at West High School. To recognize this week and the harm created by name-calling, Students Organized to Unite People asks students to sign a pledge declaring they will not in any way verbally abuse, insult or belittle another person regardless of their perceived gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity or any other characteristic or category to which they belong. During each lunch, representatives of SOUP will be at the tables in the main hallway with pledges to sign. Let’s make west a better place to be!

Good news seniors! Prestige Portrait Studio has added one extra day to get your senior picture taken! Monday, February 15th the studio will be open from 10am -2pm (we don’t have school that day) so if you have not gotten your picture taken yet, here’s your last chance. No appointment is necessary and it’s completely FREE! If you do not get your picture taken you will not be included in the senior portrait section of the yearbook so make sure you stop by.
Congratulations to the Varsity Show Choir – West Connection who won the Grand Championship at their competition this past Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska! The also received the Best Vocals award and Brad Rees was named Best Male Soloist among all of the groups there. The JV show choir – This Just In! – placed 6th in their division. WAY TO GO FALCONS!!
Today as we stay with a tradition that started in 1966, the ringing of the “Victory Bell”.
We celebrate Falcon Victories in Varsity Girls Basketball, Sophomore Boys Basketball and Varsity Boys Basketball.
The Varsity Girls Basketball team beat Central Friday night by a score of 43-37 in an exiting game.
Then, Saturday both our Sophomore and Varsity Boys Basketball team beat Ft. Madison.
