The Davenport Community School District is served by the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency.

The Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency is one of fifteen area education agencies in the state. They were created by the 1974 Iowa Legislature to ensure all children have equal educational opportunities. Area education agencies (AEAs) serve as intermediate units providing educational services to local schools. The Iowa Department of Education has developed and mandated nine standards for services areas that all AEA's must provide. The standards for services areas include:

• Professional development for instructional, administrative and support personnel
• Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment
• Diverse learning needs of all children and youth, including but not limited to services that address gifted and talented students and meet the unique needs of special education students.
• Multicultural, Gender-Fair Approaches

• Instruction for all students through school technology

• Management Services
