Public AffairsNews Releases Parent Involvement Survey Results School Board Action Local School Improvement Advisory Committee Collaborative Time Early Dismissals Health/Wellness Legislative Advocacy Urban Education Network |  News Release - 12/1/11 AND1 LIVE vs. the Davenport Schools Generals December 8, 2011 at Central High Gymnasium Davenport, Iowa - Davenport Community Schools are proud to present AND1 Live 2011 Streetball Tour at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2011, at the Central High School gymnasium, 1120 Main Street, Davenport, Iowa. AND1 will play the Davenport Schools Generals, made up of Davenport Schools staff members and coached by Superintendent Art Tate. The event is free to all families with students attending the following Davenport Schools: Buchanan, Fillmore, Hayes, Jackson, Madison, Jefferson, Monroe, Wilson, JB Young, Smart and Lincoln. Seating is limited to families from these schools. AND1 is a traveling basketball competition and exhibition which has toured throughout the United States and in international markets. The tour was on ESPN for six seasons featuring their unique playground-style basketball. The AND1 tour is about more than basketball. An essential part of the tour’s mission is to promote positive and healthy role models for today’s youth. AND1 team members will be visiting local schools during the morning and early afternoon on December 8 to talk with students about the importance of education in their lives, with a special focus on the core subjects of reading and mathematics. A schedule of school visits is also attached. Please call the schools to arrange your visit to a classroom that day. Media will also be welcome at the game on December 8. |
