
Local School Improvement Advisory Committee (LSIAC)
The purpose of this community member committee is
to provide guidance to the district and the school
board on issues that need to be addressed.
Membership
The current membership of the Local School
Improvement Advisory Committee represents a wide
background of people that reflects the diversity of
our district. The common bond that brings these
individuals together is their concern for our
students and their passion to improve our schools.
The group meets on a regular basis to discuss
various items of interest – academic achievement,
student health and wellness, classroom and school
environment, extracurricular programming, family
support, district communication and much more.
Meetings are typically held about once every 6 weeks
and are on weeknights from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Purpose: To provide information on the
upcoming county-wide Local Option Sales and
Services Tax (LOSST) extension and to continue
discussion regarding Parent Involvement in the

Purpose: To discuss an update of activities
related to the Emergency Response Grant and
answer questions about district security
methods; to talk about parent involvement -
including a definition, levels of engagement,
and possible tactics.
September 20, 2007
Purpose: To discuss the
District in Need of Assistance (DINA) action
plan and Comprehensive School Improvement
Plan as well as to provide information on the
district's Employability Skills model and new

reading interventions,
Career Pathways, and the pilot for the
Parent Assist web portal program.

The purpose of this meeting was to discuss
the Physical Plan and Equipment levy, review the
Annual Progress Report, and receive information

September 20, 2006
The meeting focused on information the
members would like to have dicussed when the
district's Annual Progress Report is formally
presented at the November meeting. In addition,
the group reviewed the Comprehensive School
Improvement Goals as well as other information
for the state accreditation visit coming up in
February 2007. A survey will be distributed
regarding meeting scheduling.

The meeting focused on a discussion regarding
the APR presentation expected in November.
Minutes were not taken for the meeting due to
minimal attendance and early adjournment.

The meeting provided an overview of the
district's athletic programs and a presentation
on several new initiatives at the middle grades.

Purpose – Discuss early
dismissal proposal. The LSIAC was presented with
information about an early dismissal proposal.
The LSIAC created a
list of pros and cons to consider as the
district examines ways to create additional time
for teachers to work collaboratively and learn new
skills to raise student achievement.
March 16, 2004 - Wilson
Elementary School
Purpose – to analyze boundary
fact sheet and provide the Board of Education with
a prioritized list of boundary considerations.
The committee also developed additional comments
for the top six items from the prioritized list.
February 24, 2004 - North
High School Cafeteria
Purpose – to analyze needs
assessment data from the Comprehensive School
Improvement Plan Leadership Committee. The Local
School Improvement Advisory Committee created a
list of
prioritized needs. The information will be
used by the CSIP Leadership Committee as they
develop the district’s five year plan.
