Application Procedures

  • Applicants must complete the following on-line application at http://www.iowaeducationjobs.com and request that notification be sent to Linda McClurg, Director of Human Resources, the Davenport Community School District.
       

  • The following must also be submitted in order for an applicant’s file to be considered complete:
    • The District's addendum to the Iowa Teaching Application which includes the following : Affirmative Action Data (voluntary), Personal Statement (required), and Release of Information Agreement (required).  Complete, print, sign and return.
    • A complete set of credentials. (Three (3) letters of recommendation may be substituted.)
    • A complete set of transcripts. (Complete transcripts show the degree and conferred date-official transcripts are optional)
    • A copy of your Iowa teaching license.
  • If you do not hold an Iowa teaching license, please contact the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Grimes State Office Building, Des Moines, Iowa 50319. Furnish information to the Human Resource Services office as soon as you receive it from the State Superintendent. This district does not assume any responsibility for the issuance of your license. A valid teaching license is required before a contract can be issued.
  • Your complete application package will be kept in our active file for a period of one (1) year. In April (or 2-3 weeks prior to the teacher bid session) of each year, a renewal form is sent to each applicant. Those applicants wishing to remain on active status for the subsequent year must return the renewal form to the Human Resource Services office by the deadline indicated in the body of the letter, and on the form.
  • All new employees, including guest (substitute) teachers as well as full- and part-time, will be required to report to the Human Resource Services office for processing prior to beginning employment.
  • All newly appointed certified employees are required by the State Laws of Iowa to have a physical examination, including a tuberculin test.
