DAVENPORT SCHOOLS FOUNDATION NAMES
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The Davenport Schools
Foundation recently named Julie Fieldler, Davenport,
Ia,
as its new executive director. The Davenport Schools
Foundation works to enhance the Davenport Community
Schools educational environment by helping to fund
programs that support students in reaching their
full potential. Originally from Albia, Iowa, Ms.
Fieldler graduated with a BA in Communication from
Central College in Pella, IA. Immediately prior to
taking the position with the Davenport Schools
Foundation, she served as the Director of Alumni
Services at Missouri Western State University. In
that position, she managed all aspects of alumni
services from coordinating events, programs and
service projects to developing a marketing and
communication plan for the Alumni Services office
and Alumni Association. She also coordinated the
creation of an Online Community for alumni to
network and reconnect on MWSU’s website. Earlier in
her career, she worked as program coordinator for
Northern Arizona University and as a Heart
Initiatives Specialist for the American Heart
Association here in the Quad Cities. The Davenport
Schools Foundation was chartered in 1987 and
operates independently, but in cooperation with the
Davenport Community Schools. They are actively
involved in raising funds from private and corporate
sources which support scholarships and enrichment
programs throughout the District, including the
Great Minds curriculum-based program for providing
students unique learning experiences both inside and
outside the classroom.
The Foundation’s Scholarship Program awards over
$20,000 annually in college scholarships to
graduating seniors; distributes financial assistance
to elementary students for use in summer enrichment
activities; and recognizes outstanding achievements
by students of various ages in the arts and
sciences.
