CENTRAL AND WEST HIGH STUDENTS NAMED NATIONAL MERIT SEMIFINALISTS

Brian Higdon and Stephen Quist, students at Central High School and Lisa Brus, student at West High School have been named semifinalists in the 53nd annual National Merit Scholarship program. They now join 16,000 other high school students from across the country in the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,200 Merit Scholarship awards, worth $34 million, that will be offered next spring.

More than 1.4 million juniors in nearly 21,000 high schools across the county entered this year’s National Merit program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
