JB YOUNG HOSTS A LIBRARY SHOWER ON APRIL 18
As a special way to celebrate
their new library media center, JB Young is hosting
a “Library Shower” on Monday, April 18, from 3:45
to 5 p.m. The event will offer a wonderful
opportunity to see the new library media center and
to help support the needs of students at JB Young.
The event will consist of
welcoming remarks from Principal Clancy Simmons,
literary games, refreshments and the opportunity to
“shower” the library with small gifts designed to
support the learning needs of students. The gift
list includes the donation of new or lightly used
books, bookmarks, display easels for books, book
plates, live or artificial plants or trees to create
a more welcoming environment, pens, pencils,
notepaper, posters, markers and more. The event is
open to all friends of JB Young – including parents,
staff, and community.
According to Rosanne Krubsack,
Library Media Specialist, the shower is a fun way to
show off the new facility and celebrate literacy.
“In addition to celebrating literacy and reading,
the library media center also provides so many
resources for our students as they explore the world
around them,” she notes, adding that the library
offers reference materials, support of research, a
window on history as well as current events, and a
pleasant place to just sit back and read a good
book.
Just one of many on-going
improvements at JB, the new library media center is
another example of the meaningful ways the Local
Option Sales Tax fund is improving both the inside
and external appearance of Davenport schools.
