The Central High Art Department has been selected to provide a gift for former Congressman James Leach in honor of his keynote address at a gala celebration marking the 150th anniversary of the Davenport Community School District. The event will held this Friday evening at the Figge Museum of Art. A beautiful photo yearbook—titled “In Focus”—created by students in digital photography classes will be presented to him. Mr. Leach is a Central graduate and member of its Hall of Fame. Last weekend at President-elect Barack Obama’s request, he served as one of two United States representatives at the G-20 conference—a gathering of developed nations seeking solutions to the world’s economic crisis. Students who contributed to the “In Focus” book are asked come to Mr. Balsar’s room today or Thursday to autograph the book’s inside back cover. There is speculation that Mr. Leach may have an important role in President-elect Obama’s administration—your signature may well go to high places. Congratulations to these students for this achievement.
Also, would Claire Graham, Lindsey Bressert, and Ashley Bolio see Mr. Balsar to collect your Photographic note cards. They have come in. 11-20
