We will have a representative from Indian Hills Community College, in the guidance office conference room today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 11-17
The Freshman Scholastic Bowl team is practicing on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 a.m. The team is always looking for new members so please invite your friends and do not hesitate to come and try this academic game. This practice is for freshman only. We will be practicing for Knowledge Master Open competition at this time. See you Tuesday. 11-17
Curious about University of Iowa Upward Bound? Interested in attending college after high school? Want to know more about how Upward Bound can help? Come to our next meeting that will be open to all interested 9th and 10th graders. Davenport has two choices for meetings: Tuesday meetings are at West High School. The next meeting will take place on November 18 in room 100, from 3:30 to 5:30. Wednesday meetings are at North High School from 2:30 to 4:30. If you are interested please contact Mrs. Hoeppner in room 401. Please join us for a good time! 11-17
Attention all Marching Band students: Remember we have a rehearsal tomorrow from 3-4 for the Festival of Trees Parade. Also, if you are in marching band but not currently enrolled in band, please see Mr. Hatcher or Mr. Hanson by the end of the day today. 11-17
The Varsity Scholastic Bowl team was in action Saturday at the Rock Island High School Scholastic Bowl tournament. The team swept our division with three resounding wins in the morning rounds. In the afternoon, our team played three hard fought matches to end the tournament in third place in the consolation round. Team members were led by Austin Laugen's 22 tossup questions correct. Seniors Brendan Iglehart, Brenna Ross, and P.J. Wiese all contributed with significant tossup points. The team was rounded out by juniors Chris Harre, Angela Barr, Katie Hixon, Tori Quist, and Kelsey Roebuck. What an amazing effort by our Varsity Scholastic Bowl team! Thank you to all of the students who participated all day on Saturday and then performed in the musical that evening. You all certainly went above and beyond this weekend. Congratulations! 11-17
Anyone interested in Winter Guard should attend an informational meeting on Monday November 17th in Kemper Hall Room 25 right after school. Anyone interested that cannot come to the meeting should talk to Ms. Poskin in Kemper after school sometime before the 17th. See you then! 11-17
Attention Lady Cross Country Runners!!! If your uniform is not turned in by Tuesday 11/18/2008 a fine card will be issued. You have until Tuesday to turn them into Coach Peiffer @ Running Wild. 11-18
Blue Crew needs high school students to help with the Math Club at J.B. Young one day a week after school. The club will meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45. Interested high school students only need to attend one day a week. The sponsors are holding a pizza party meeting at J.B. Young on Tuesday, November 18, to set up a schedule for high school mentors. This volunteer activity will look great on a college application. If you are interested in working with junior high students on this very important project, please try to attend the Tuesday activity. If you cannot attend the meeting, but you are still interested, contact Mr. Gusaas in room 611 or Mrs. Schorg in room 601. 11-18

There is still time to join the NEW High School Intramural Bowling League. Come join Thursday after school, Bowlmor Lanes, starting at 3:30 pm. This is open to all High School Students in the Greater Davenport area. Teams can be made of any combination of students from any area High School. If you have friends you want to bowl with from North or West, you can do it. This league runs for 15 weeks, it is for fun and will be awarding trophies 11-19
Shades of Success/Boys to Men will meet at the POETRY SLAM in the auditorium on Wednesday. All are invited to come and bring your personal poetry, your favorite poem, a journal writing, short story, song, or rap. We will encourage and support your special gift of the written word. Please bring a copy of what you are sharing to Mr. Jabari Woods in the guidance office or to Ms. Teague in 425. You will not be given the microphone if you have not given a copy to one of them. Winter Wonderland is the new Bricolage theme. Submissions in art, writing, photography and musical scores are now being accepted. Questions see Ms Jasper or Lindsay Whalen for more information. 11-19
Congratulations to national JEA on the spot winners Lindsay Whalen, magazine layout; Sebastian Pena, commentary; and Samantha Baehr theme design. Over 2000 students competed with 633 awards being received. Only ten were received by students from schools in Iowa. Full results can be seen on jea.org. 11-19

All girls who are planning to be part of this year's Track & Field team should come to a brief meeting after school Thursday in room 627. See Coach Trujillo for more information. 11-20
Anyone interested in auditioning for this year's spring play needs to report to Kahler Auditorium this Thursday at 2:45. See Mrs. Viel (pronounced veal) in Room 417 before or after school if you have any questions. 11-20
This Friday is the final day of tryouts for the Varsity and Junior Varsity Men’s and Women’s Bowling Team. Be at Bowlmor Lanes this Friday at 3:20 pm for your chance to be on this year’s competitive team. 11-20
There will be a meeting for ALL cheerleaders football, basketball and wrestling on November 24th @ 4:30pm in the aerobics room. All cheerleaders must attend this. Bring your uniforms and DVDs with you to the meeting. This will also be picture day for all Basketball and Wrestling Cheerleaders. 11-24
