Announcements for 10-28-08
Newspaper students taking 5th-7th block you are required to be in Kemper 14 immediately after school Tuesday. Be prepared to stay until 3:30 to work. Assignments for issue 4 are posted. They must be in the computer and approved by Wednesday November 5. Also Tuesday is the last day to sign papers for Columbia Mail in Competitions. Be in the lab Tuesday to sign forms or your materials can not be entered. 10-28
The Blue Devil Girls JV Swim Team took 4th out of 8th at the Muscatine Invite. Some of the top swimmers were: Jesse Mumm placing second in the diving, Rachael Herman fifth in the 100 fly, Jessica Glasgow sixth in the 100 free, Meghan Ryan fifth in the 500 free, Emily Owens fourth in the 100 back, and Ashton Dooley third in the 100 breast. The girls 200 Free Relay of Kelsey Stanger, Jessica Glasgow, Ashton Dooley, and Rachael Herman got second place. The same girls placed fourth in the 400 Free Relay. Way to go girls! Remember to turn your gear by Wednesday to the coaches on the pool deck. 10-28

Seniors you only have one more week to get your Senior Baby Ads in to the yearbook. Ads are due Monday, Nov. 3rd. Remind your parents and get those cute pictures rounded up. If you have lost your forms they are available in the activities office or in Kemper room 12. After Nov. 3rd there is a $10.00 late fee and they will only be accepted for one additional week with the fee. Don’t delay, remind your parents today! Baby ads, Baby ads, baby ads! 10/28
Attention Guys and Dolls cast: Al members of the Havana scene (dancers, Sky and Sarah) will rehearse at 6:00 on Tuesday night before the regularly scheduled rehearsal. 10-28
Attention Juniors and Seniors:
There will not be open campus or commons for the next few weeks while we await the chance to look at grades to see who qualifies. We will post lists of qualified students for commons and open campus as soon as the grades are released to us. Anyone qualifying for open campus who does not have a form on file will be given the opportunity to complete the form and turn it in. (Are you listening, Lily?) Those seniors qualifying for open campus with a permission form on file will not need to complete another form. ITED's, which will impact "D" term privileges as well as "A" term next year, will be coming soon, so prepare to do well, Central! 10-28
This announcement is for all students interested in National History Day--- come to a meeting on Tuesday, October 28th at 2:45 p.m. in Mr. Flaherty's room, room 515. We will brainstorm topics and begin planning the year. Also, if you are interested in going to the University of Iowa library on Thursday, November 13th, be sure to return your permission slips at the meeting. If you do not have a permission slip and would like one, see Mrs. Heninger in room 501. 10-28
Attention all girls soccer players. There will be an informational meeting after school in the cafeteria on Thursday October 30. The meeting will last about fifteen minutes. If you cannot make the meeting please see Coach Petersen in the gym." 10-29
This Thursday is a homeroom. At this homeroom you will receive you’re A Term Report Card. Please bring your schedule to your homeroom, as well. If you do not have your B Term Schedule, please stop in the Main Office to pick it up. 10-29
Bowling Team Tryouts will begin this Friday, October 31st at Bowlmor Lanes on Brady Street at 3:30 pm. Please be there by 3:20, you will be done by 5:30. This is for Men’s and Women’s Varsity and Junior Varsity Bowling Teams. 10-30
Got any extra change? How about canned goods lying around your house? Well, bring them in to you third block class for the Student Food Drive. One dollar equals three cans so bring them in today. The class with the most cans by Friday will win a prize. Teachers, we challenge you to come up with your own contests within your class to encourage student participation. 10-30
Attention Students. Please bring in your extra change to your second block for Tally Before you Teach. Teachers will be collecting money all week, and then counting it up on Friday before class starts. All proceeds will benefit our student council in the Student Food Drive. So you are looking for an excuse to push back the start of class on Friday? Then bring in money to your second class. The class with the most change by Friday will receive donuts on Monday. 10-31
All members of the boys cross country team are reminded to hand in their clean uniforms and warm ups to Coach Tandy in room 309 by this Friday. Fines begin after Friday. 10-31
