  • Attention Yearbook students—don’t forget tonight’s meeting at 2:45 in Kemper 12. The Monday meetings are mandatory for all yearbook staff members. See you tonight! 10-27

  • Attention boy golfers…please return your golf bags ASAP to room 322. 10-27
  • Congratulations to the four members of the CHS orchestra who auditioned for All-State last Saturday. Competition was fierce. Bravo Kelsey Roebuck for being selected as an alternate violin for the orchestra and will represent CHS. 10-27
  • Congratulations to the following band members for making All-State ensembles on Saturday Aaron Askam- All State Band Allison Vandecar- All State Band Tori Quist- All State Band Becky Hixon- All State Band Julia Kiley- All State Orchestra Eric Hartmann- All State Band 1st Alternate Jennifer Keys- All State Band 1st Alternate Great job!   • Guys and Dolls cast members Brenna Ross, Taylor Gilhouse and Megan Svoboda must meet in Ms. Buening's room (305) immediately after school on Tuesday for about 1/2 hour. 10-27
  • Newspaper students taking 5th-7th block you are required to be in Kemper 14 immediately after school Tuesday. Be prepared to stay until 3:30 to work. Assignments for issue 4 are posted. They must be in the computer and approved by Wednesday November 5. Also Tuesday is the last day to sign papers for Columbia Mail in Competitions. Be in the lab Tuesday to sign forms or your materials can not be entered. 10-28
  • Congratulations to the Girls Volleyball Program on their successful win against the North Wildcats! With this win the sophomore team earned 3rd place in the MAC conference. Varsity clinched the Title: MAC conference Champs. The first game on the road to State is against North Scott, Monday at 7:00 in the North Scott Pitt. Hope to see you all there!! 10-27
  • Please listen to the following changes for Scholastic Bowl practice next week.  On Tuesday, October 28th, Frosh/Soph Team A will meet for practice at 7:00 a.m.  The captain of team A is Mary Warhank.  On her team are:  Zach Behrendt, Cole Boudreau, Blaine Herington, Madison Kludy and Mary Reeves.  If you just heard your name, you are practicing on Tuesday morning.  Team B will practice on Thursday, October 30th in the morning at 7:00 a.m.  Team B is being captained by Hannah McAtee.  Her team members are:  Kaushay Colvin, McKinley Kuhlmann, Peter Elkin, Siennna Klauer, Colin Iglehart, and Jonathan Quist.  Again, Team B is practicing next Thursday morning.  If you are confused by this announcement, see Mrs. Heninger for details.  10-27
  • Do you have an old phone or ipod? The Environmental Club is collecting old ipods, digital cameras, cell phones, ink cartridges and laptops! If you have something that you no longer use, drop if off at the main desk of the library!  If you have questions, see Rebecca Briesmoore from the Environmental Club. 10-27
  • The Central Book Club is meeting to discuss A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah on Monday, October 27th after school in room 501.  If you can join us to talk about this gripping story about a child soldier, we welcome you.  Members of the book club are going to see Ishmael Beah speak at the University of Iowa on Wednesday night, so if you have not yet returned your permission slip, see Mrs. Heninger. 10-27
  • A reminder to students that on Wednesday, Oct. 29, Central Idol will take place in the gym. Please bring a dollar to your fourth block on that day to become an audience member for this exciting show. Who has what it takes to become this year’s Central Idol? It’s up to you to decide; voting will take place following the show. 10-27
  • Seniors you only have one more week to get your Senior Baby Ads in to the yearbook. Ads are due Monday, Nov. 3rd. Remind your parents and get those cute pictures rounded up. If you have lost your forms they are available in the activities office or in Kemper room 12. After Nov. 3rd there is a $10.00 late fee and they will only be accepted for one additional week with the fee. Don’t delay, remind your parents today! Baby ads, Baby ads, baby ads! 10/28
  • Attention Guys and Dolls cast: Al members of the Havana scene (dancers, Sky and Sarah) will rehearse at 6:00 on Tuesday night before the regularly scheduled rehearsal. 10-28
  • Attention all girls soccer players. There will be an informational meeting after school in the cafeteria on Thursday October 30. The meeting will last about fifteen minutes. If you cannot make the meeting please see Coach Petersen in the gym." 10-29
  • Attention Juniors and Seniors: There will not be open campus or commons for the next few weeks while we await the chance to look at grades to see who qualifies. We will post lists of qualified students for commons and open campus as soon as the grades are released to us. Anyone qualifying for open campus who does not have a form on file will be given the opportunity to complete the form and turn it in. (Are you listening, Lily?) Those seniors qualifying for open campus with a permission form on file will not need to complete another form. ITED's, which will impact "D" term privileges as well as "A" term next year, will be coming soon, so prepare to do well, Central! 10-28
  • This announcement is for all students interested in National History Day--- come to a meeting on Tuesday, October 28th at 2:45 p.m. in Mr. Flaherty's room, room 515.  We will brainstorm topics and begin planning the year. Also, if you are interested in going to the University of Iowa library on Thursday, November 13th, be sure to return your permission slips at the meeting.  If you do not have a permission slip and would like one, see Mrs. Heninger in room 501. 10-28
