Blue Devils, come out tonight to support your Central Volleyball team at their last home game vs the Clinton River Queens. At tonight’s game we will be honoring the six senior girls who are leading this team. Allie Corbin, Pauline Heraly, Amy Hill, Kelsey Lovaas, Alexis Mitchell, and Taylor Sharoian will be honored tonight before the start of the varsity game, which starts at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
We will have a representative from ValParaiso University at 10:00 am in the guidance office conference room today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 10-14
There will be a short Blue Crew meeting in the library at 7:15 Wednesday morning. Please try to attend. The discussion will involve the mentoring activity with the jr. high schools. 10-14
Newspaper students if you have not completed your work for issue 3 plan to stay tonight until it is done. The paper must be sent to the Times Wednesday. Plan accordingly. 10-14
Congratulations to Central’s three State Champion Journalism On the Spot Competitors. Chelsea Rink placed 1st in News Writing; Brendan Iglehart placed 1st in Editorial Writing; and Danielle Kimler placed 1st in the state Copy Editing test. In addition, Central’s sports competitors swept sports writing competition from second to fourth place with Hannah McAtee, Kevin Dorr, and Jon Welser winning awards in that event. Zack Howell received second place in copy caption writing. Alexis Ahmed and Ahmed and Drew Hance tied for Honorable Mention in Editorial Cartooning. There were 300 students who competed in individual events. In the 2008 sweepstakes mail in contest Blackhawk Newspaper placed 2nd in large school graphics with a team composed of Katie Oxendine, Jon Welser, and David Whalen and 3rd in large school photography with a team composed of Spencer Bishop, Sam Jurgena, and David Whalen. State On Line and Yearbook awards have been postponed until Oct 28. 10-14
Shades of Success/Boys to Men Pullout Program will be seeing students today on an individual basis. Students will be called down to meet Ms. Trice block 2. Wednesday after school Shades of Success/Boys to Men group will meet after school on Wednesday at 1: 40pm in room 419. New students are always welcome. 10-14
Attention All Students who will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday or Saturday of this week: You are to bring with you to the testing room; two #2 pencils, a calculator and a photo I.D. 10-14
HOT BOX DANCERS FOR GUYS AND DOLLS: All hat box dancers will have choreography rehearsal in Kahler Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 5:00-6:30 with costuming at 6:30 for all. 10-16
Hey Seniors — time is ticking — you need to get your baby ads in to the yearbook soon. The deadline for submissions is fast approaching. Remind your parents and turn in your pictures and paperwork to the activities office. If you have lost your forms there are extras in the activities office or in the yearbook room — Kemper 12. Spanish Club members: this week is the last week to order club t-shirts. If you ordered a shirt, but haven't paid, please bring $8 to Mrs. Trimble on or before Friday, Oct. 17. At this week's meeting we will be planning our Day of the Dead display, so bring your ideas and any items you would like to include in the display. 10-17
