On Saturday the lady Devil Cross Country Runners ran a very good meet. On the Varsity Side with a overall 3rd place Finish was Becca Wilder followed by Nicole Miller and Rebecca Briesmore. The Varsity Girls Finished 3rd over all. On the Fresh/Soph Side leading the way was Alexandra Baltimore followed very closely by Katherine Walton and Kimberly Magnus. Te Fresh/Soph girls finished 2nd over all. Great Job ladies. 10-6
The Freshman Scholastic Bowl team will be practicing on Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. in the library. Please come, and bring your calendars. 10-6
Attention all Army JROTC Cadets, the first marksmanship class of the year is today -right after school in room 254. If you want to be on the JROTC marksmanship team, you must attend this class. Please be on time. 10-6
The Blue Devils Girls Swim Team placed second at the Galesburg JV Invite on Saturday. Emily Owens, Ashton Dooley, Kelsey Stanger, and Rachel Herman placed third in the 200 Medley Relay. Kelsey Stanger placed third in the 100 fly and Jesse Glasgow placed third in the 100 free. Ashton Dooley, Jesse Glasgow, Kelsey Stanger, and Rachael Herman placed third in the 200 free relay. Emily Owens took second place in the 100 backstroke. We hope to see everyone tonight at North when the Blue Devils take on the Wild Cats at 5:00pm. 10-6
We will have a representative from Augustana College at 10:00 am, and Kirkwood Community College at 11:00 am in the guidance office conference room today. Stop and get a pass if interested in visiting with them. 10-6
In fashion, everything old is new again, including the hippies' favorite, the crocheted granny square. Learn to make your own Tuesday after school at the Fiber Arts Club in room 337. See Mrs. McCunn for details. She has plenty of yarn for you to practice, but you need to bring your own hook, preferably size G, H, or I. 10-6
Congratulations to the boys cross country team for another fine performance at the Alleman Invite. Medaling for the Varsity were Robbie Pogue and Chris Capper. The fresh/soph finished second overall and medaling for them were Mark Reiter, Dominick Shults, Scott McKillip, Alex Pogue and Jimmy Hean. Great job gentlemen. 10-6
Remember the blood drive will be on Wednesday in the new gym. Everyone must have a parent signed permission to give. See Mrs. Hosmer or a student council member to get your time reserved. 10-7
All students involved in the pit orchestra for this fall's musical "Guys and Dolls" should be present for a short meeting this Tuesday, at 2:45 in the choir room. We will be discussing a proposed schedule for the next month. If you have any questions, or are unable to attend, please see Mr. Reese in room 259. 10-7
Attention Students: This week is “change week”. See your assigned counselor for a copy of your schedule. If you want to make any adjustments to your B term schedule you must make those changes this week. We have three school days this week, so do it now. 10-7
Do you like history? Do you like to work with your friends on challenging and stimulating topics? Are you interested in making historical documentaries and films? How about writing a play about a specific event in history and then acting in it? Do you want to win awards and get the chance to compete in Washington D.C.? If so, you should consider participating in National History Day competition. Our first meting will take place on Tuesday, October 7th right after school in room 515. Mr. Flaherty and Mrs. Heninger are the club sponsors and want to encourage everyone to come and find out about National History Day. At the meeting, we will be discussing the theme of the year, as well as planning our first field trip to the University of Iowa Main Library. We hope to see you Tuesday afternoon. 10-7
Newspaper students- your stories are due for issue 3 get them in. Publication students competing in state on the spot- There will be a review sessions will take place after school until 4 Tuesday. Publication Students who plan to perform the opening number at State need to see Ms Buttleman Malcolm for a 15 minute practice after school Tuesday.
