Announcements for 10-03-08
Many of you have seen the 9-9-9-09, and say to yourself, what does that mean? Mr. Wernentin is taking your guess in the main office starting today October 1st. You may pick up an entry form in the Main Office. The contest will end on October 31st. The winning student and his/her homeroom class will receive a pizza party! 10-3
Attention Students: Change week is next week. See your assigned counselor for a copy of your schedule. If you want to make any adjustments to your B term schedule you must make those changes next week. There are only three days of school next week so do it now. 10-3
Attention: Boy’s golf team, please remember to bring your team golf shirt to practice this afternoon. Thanks, Coach Gill 10-3
The lady devils had a hard fought battle last night at the city meet. Becca Wilder fought hard for a 2nd place overall finish followed by a 5th place finish by Nicole Miller. Also with a great 8th place finish on her 18th birthday was Rebecca Breismore. On the Fresh/Soph side Katie Walton had great 4th place finish followed by Alexandra Baltimore with a 5th place and Melissa Rink with a 7th place finish. On the JV Side making her debut in a Blue Devil uniform was Brigit Ehlers with a 4th place finish. Great Job Ladies. 10-3
Congratulations to the boys cross country team for their performances at the City Meet. The varsity was led by Robbie Pogue-2nd place, Chris Capper-3rd place, Jake Kersten-7th and Sebastian Pena-10th place. The Fresh-soph captured the championship. Members of that championship team were Dominick Shults-3rd place, Scott McKillip-4th place, Alex pogue-7th place, Erik Hahn-12th place, Adam Hamerlinck-13th place, Jimmy Hean-17th place, and Ryan Brandt-18th place. Ben Weinstein finished 10th at the JV. Keep up the great work gentlemen. 10-3
From the dean’s office: Final announcement concerning detentions! Today, yes, today is detention make-up day in the auditorium after school at 2:40pm. Students who do not serve detentions and Saturday School will not be allowed to attend school dances, including Home Coming Dance. See those teachers and deans to get these taken care of. If you have been late to class more than once, you have detentions. The list of names is now in the activities office and new names will be added daily. You will not be able to purchase a ticket until your detentions and Saturday School responsibilities have taken care of. If you purchased a ticket and have detentions/Saturday School, you will still need to serve those before the dance. See Ms. Teague & Mr. Hawley and your teachers if you have questions. Saturday School is October 4th at 8:00am. 10/3
Student Id’s will be passed out today and tomorrow during lunch in the cafeteria. You must have your student ID to enter the Homecoming Dance this Saturday! 10-3
The 1st blood drive is Wednesday, Oct 8. That’s right, it is next week. We need all you Blue Devils to support this great event benefiting people right in our own community. Please pick up a permission form in the library or from one of the student council members. 10-3
Come get your snacks at the Oasis after school. We are selling snacks, nachos, beverages, and ice cream from 2:40 until 2:55, every day but Wednesdays. 10-3
The first choir concert of the year will take place on Monday, October 6, 2008, at North Scott High School at 7:30 pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this concert; they are currently available in the CHS Activities Office
TICKET PRICES are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens/students. A limited number of tickets will be sold at the door the night of the concert, so get your tickets now! 10-3
Publications students attending the state convention Oct 13, bring your permission slips and money into Ms Buttleman or Mrs. Jasper. If you have lost your slip or did not get one - get it now. 10-3
The Freshman Scholastic Bowl team will be practicing on Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. in the library. Please come, and bring your calendars. 10-6
Do you like history? Do you like to work with your friends on challenging and stimulating topics? Are you interested in making historical documentaries and films? How about writing a play about a specific event in history and then acting in it? Do you want to win awards and get the chance to compete in Washington D.C.? If so, you should consider participating in National History Day competition. Our first meting will take place on Tuesday, October 7th right after school in room 515. Mr. Flaherty and Mrs. Heninger are the club sponsors and want to encourage everyone to come and find out about National History Day. At the meeting, we will be discussing the theme of the year, as well as planning our first field trip to the University of Iowa Main Library. We hope to see you Tuesday afternoon. 10-7
ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS:
Are you going to the Homecoming Dance this Saturday from 8-11pm in George Marshall Gym? If so, please listen closely:
If you haven’t bought a ticket in the Activities Office, make sure you do so soon. Their only $10 a ticket in advanced. At the door tickets cost $15.00.
You must have a student ID the night of the dance. Please pick up your IDs at lunch today. There are reprint IDs from registration, as well, for anyone that lost their ID.
The night of the dance, you MUST enter the new gym doors on the southeast entrance. Let me repeat that…the night of the dance you must enter through the new gym doors, all other doors will be locked. Check in will be in the new gym along with pictures and coat check. If you buy a ticket at the door, check in will be in the new gym walkway on the 2nd floor.
