Did you know that there may be as many as 300,000 child soldiers hopped up on drugs and wielding AK-47’s, in more than fifty conflicts around the world? Ishmael Beah (pronounced: Bay uh) used to be one of those soldiers, and he is telling his story. He has written the book, A Long Way Gone, which is his heart-wrenching tale of his struggle during the Sierra Leone civil war of the 1990’s. This book is Central’s first book club book for the year. We are having an introductory book club meeting on Thursday, October 2 at 2:45 p.m. in room 501, so plan to come. Central, let's get reading! 10-2
