  • Homecoming is only 1 week away! Here are some important dates for all Blue Devils to mark on your calendar:
  • Thursday, October 2nd, 9:15 Homecoming Coronation Aud in George Marshall Gym, 6:00 Parade on Brady Street, 7:30 Game vs. Pleasant Valley.
  • Saturday, October 4th, 8:00-11:00pm Homecoming Dance in George Marshall Gym (Doors close at 9:00pm; guests to CHS must have a permission slip turned into the Activities Office by 10/2 to attend the dance).
  • On Saturday the Lady D Runners were in Iowa City for the Little Hawk Invite where many girls dropped time and improved greatly on an already wonderful season thus far. On the Varsity side a great performance was turned in by Rebecca Wilder with a 2nd Place over all finish. She was followed closely by Nicole Miller and Becca Briesmore. On the JV Side leading the way was Chelsea Rink with a season best time. She was followed closely by Melissa Rink and Lexy Baltimore. Great Job, Ladies.
  • Congratulations to your Davenport Central "Marching Blue Devils" on an outstanding performance this past Saturday at the Wheaton Falcon Marching Band Festival outside of Chicago. The band competed against 17 other schools from Illinois and Wisconsin, placing 4th among them. Great job, Blue Devils!
  • Attention all past, present, and future Spanish students - check out Spanish Club every Friday after school in room 331. We are in the process of ordering our club t-shirts, which are $8. Also, we are holding a Spanish movie night soon to watch "Casi Casi", a Puerto Rican movie about a troublemaker who runs against his crush for Student Council president! If you have questions, see Senora Trimble in room 331. See you Friday, amigos!
  • Congratulations to our 2008-2009 Homecoming Court: Samantha Baehr, Ebonie Butler, Raven Clinton-Bogan, Jazmine Constantino, Allison Corbin, Mallory Cross, Jennifer Fyfe, Samantha Irey, Lindsey Juarez, Megan Maller, Kaitlyn Oxendine, Katy Paulsen, Chelsea Rink, Brenna Ross, Ashley Taylor, Lindsay Whalen, & Brittney Wilmington.
  • Our WONDERFUL Principal, Tim Wernentin, is the National Journalism Education Association Administrator of the Year 2008. This follows him being named Iowa State Administrator of the Year in 2006 and Iowa State Freedom Champion in 2007. Full story will be in the BlackhawK Sept. 26.
  • A Term Parent/Teacher Conferences are Wednesday, September 24th from 4:00-7:00pm in the Central Café. Parents and students are encouraged to attend this event to connect with their teachers and pick up their midterm report cards.
  • On Tuesday, September 23rd at 9:15am in Kahler Auditorium the Rock Island Arsenal is graciously sponsoring a motivational speaker, Dana Bowman, to deliver on overcoming adversity, mastering change, and reaching your dreams.   • On Tuesday, October 7th at 9:25am seniors and parents are invited to Kahler Auditorium for a Fall College Planning Meeting. You will receive excellent advice in preparing for your student’s post-secondary education.
