Hall of Honor Recipient
This Davenport High School graduate is one of the
major figures in American aviation. A former Navy and Marine fighter
pilot, he is also a commercial instrument-rated pilot with 10,000
hours of air time. At the age of 42, he became Chairman and CEO for
Cessna Aircraft Company, the worlds largest manufacturer of
general aviation aircraft. With the merger of Cessna and General
Dynamics Corporation, he was also named Executive Vice President of
General Dynamics.
He is active in many phases of the operation of our
government. President Ronald Reagan appointed him to the
Commission of Executive, Legislative and Judicial Salaries, and to the
Aviation Safety Commission.
Mr. Meyer, a lawyer, is a director of many
educational and industry-related organizations. He has also chosen to
give something back to his beginnings at Davenport High School in the
form of scholarships in the name of his parents, who were also
graduated from DHS.
